zeroption: endgame (2017)

01. zeroption - endgame / a naked self identity, converges time: eternity, glides out of ideology, survives atonal harmony. contaminated consciousness, lamenting the impossible, survivors that will not survive; existence beyond temporal. i'm living in a garbage can, i'm living in a garbage can. oppressive continuity, woven into a tapestry, subsumes the non conceptual, mimetic and the gestural. fragmented subjectivity, proves logic's own absurdity; empirical reality, dispels claims of autonomy. i'm living in a garbage can, i'm living in a garbage can. / Recorded at Ruin 'em all Lake View 2011 and War Land Studio, Oakville 2017. Featuring "delroy 'n' elroy": Kealan and Gord.

zeroption - 45 (2010)

01. zeroption - 45 02. zeroption - sleeping 33 03. zeroption - sleeping 45 04. zeroption - sleeping 78 05. zeroption - 45 again / i'm forty five! i'm still alive! i can't believe i'm forty five and still alive! i should have died! a thousand times! i should have died, i should have died, but i'm alive! / The collection is structured to represent a reflection on the passing of time. The actual time (2010 to 1997 to 2010 to 2043 to 2010) is marked by the rotations per minute designation of phonographic records. The first selection, 45, is a positive expression of the elation due to cognisance that personal physical survival is probably much more due to chance than fate. The three variations on the theme of sleeping (Luke 8:52) are based on the perception of time in relation to the point of view of Lazarus (John 11:44). At 33, there is no feeling of the present; things are becoming. 45 is now, but now is forever. 78 is a realization that projection, and life itself, is finite. 45 again is the response of the fatalistic vox populi (the chorus) whose linear outlook denies them the joy of the present, and thus precludes victory through art and subsequent immortality. The future is neither forwards or backwards but actually here today, spinning. Recorded at Ruin 'em all Lake View 2010. Featuring the Sauroids: Kealan, Gord, Chris and Jamie.

zeroption - something to believe in - realpolitik (1984)

01. zeroption: realpolitik 1983 / the end always will justify the means, regardless of moral and ideological dreams, self interest the only guiding force, to institute an era of a brave new course. the spirit of the ages past, has given way to a goal unmasked, the wars for peace in foreign lands, leave pacifists with bloody hands. a new toughness of mind has quelled all hope, that we will resist the rule of the rope, pragmatism is the new mainstay, an excuse for the realpolitik world of today. /"On the surface, the song reflected an applied cynicism but underlying that was a commentary on the hardcore scene which was exploding and imploding at the same time. The scene had started out as self taught, 16 year old d.i.y.ers playing their songs for each other and networking with others of like mind around the continent. From there, pro musicians got involved, along with management and money. The big names like Social Distortion were drawing 3500 kids a night in LA and had attracted enough attention via riots and Entertainment Tonight to finance tours but they would come to Toronto and get fifteen people. We were totally ignored in Canada because we were not part of the machine. No press, no airplay, no sponsorship, no mention of our shows. By 1983, things started to change and the management companies started buying out bands in order to cover the turf, but didn't have any idea what was good or bad because they were so corporate. The scene changed and any band that had actually been in it for the right reasons quit. The fan base had changed dramatically as well. The scene went from groups of individuals to a herd. Realpolitik was our farewell to an era." -kd Recorded at Comfort Sound Toronto, November 1983. Mixed by Thom Wilson. Engineered by Blair Packham. Released on Better Youth Records' "Better Youth Organization Presents...Something To Believe In" (BYO-004) Side 2, Track 5 in 1984. ℗ Elroy Music 1984. Featuring Kealan, Gord and Stuart.
